Arranging a First Appointment

Call (413) 731-7262.  It is likely that you will get voice-mail, because I do not interrupt sessions to answer the telephone.  When you call, leave

  • Name (speak slowly)
  • Name and age of client (if not yourself)
  • Telephone number(s)
  • Insurance plan, if applicable
  • Times when you may be reached

Many psychotherapists do not return telephone calls when their practice is full.  I do.  I am very aware that the decision to start therapy is generally a long one, and once it is reached, it is frustrating to  wait.   I will attempt to reach you by the following business day to discuss what you are looking for.  If I feel I am not the best therapist for you, or if we can't meet due to insurance or time considerations, I will try to help you find someone else who can see you.

If we agree to meet, you may save time by downloading our HIPAA-compliant, secure form before the first session, filling it out, and bringing it with you when you come.

Coming the First Time

Please bring

  • Your health insurance card, if you plan to use your   insurance to help pay for sessions
  • The intake paperwork.  If you can fill out the paperwork in advance, please do so.  This saves about ten minutes in the first session, so we may spend more time meeting and talking about why you have come in.
  • Your copay.  This saves me from needing to bill two different directions

Some insurance plans require that you call them for an authorization number prior to our first visit.  If there is a telephone number on your insurance card for behavioral health or mental health, call and ask whether pre-authorization is required.  If they give you an authorization number, bring this with you on your first visit.

My office has a private waiting room. Please enter and make yourself comfortable--I will come to meet you when my previous appointment is finished.
